Homemade Wii virtual-reality headtracking: The coolest thing since, well, ever

Screw CES: Force-feedback vests and tableputers are fine and all, but Carnegie Mellon researcher Johnny Lee has them all beat with his homemade, Wii-based virtual reality headtracking system. Are you ready for a mind explosion?

And I thought swinging a freaking remote like a tennis racket was cool. Lee's innovations could make for the coolest and most realistic first-person simulators ever. It might have a range of other applications as well (medical, scientific, etc.), but all I really care about is the gaming potential. I'm kind of a jerk like that.

Lee's also developed fingertracking and interactive whiteboards using Wii technology. Outside of Ninten-tech, he's created a $14 Steadicam and a giant paint balloon slingshot, among other inventions, so he's pretty much a god.
