Florida likely plays home to squirrels, not yetis

Apparently Baker County, home to Jacksonville Florida, has been recently terrorized by an unknown, ape-like creature. According to local news, speculation put it down as maybe an "escaped ape to a juvenile big foot." Even local animal control officers speculated that it might be an orangutan. "We got this call and this man said, 'You are just not going to believe this and I'm not crazy.' I said, 'What is it? We've heard a lot of things.' He said, 'I have a monkey in my tree.'" said Animal Control Officer Tina Thomas. "I thought the man was on drugs. I said, 'Are you sure?' He was like, 'I'm telling you I'm not on drugs and I ain't been drinking.'"

"I'm not discounting anything. However, this creature, whatever it may be, simply isn’t acting like a primate," said Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigator Ken Holmes. "When it climbed up in the nest and hid, that wasn’t primate behavior. An orangutan would have peered over the side to watch what was going on down below."

Now it seems like all parties were wrong: it might have been an orange-phase fox squirrel.

Note: When you Google "orange-phase fox squirrel," most of the first few pages are about this confusion. With that in mind, we present a 60Secondscience.com infographic:
