You state that combining methane and water in "just the right way" will produce amino acids. This is untrue unless "just the right way" includes adding a source of nitrogen since amino acids contain nitrogen by definition. Neither methane nor water contain nitrogen atoms from which to build the amine groups that all amino acids contain at least one of.
