Glass 'wall of death' murders birds in the 'burbs

df162_warblerstory-falconprofile.jpg An upscale suburban developer in Southern California recently erected a nearly mile-long glass wall, presumably to keep out the less fortunate but allow them to gaze in longingly on the good life. But the glass wall has had an unfortunate side effect: At least a dozen birds have been killed upon impact with the barrier, and several more will likely meet the same fate. Victims include at least two harrier hawks, a mourning dove, a yellow rumped warbler and a hummingbird. A moment of silence, if you please, especially for the yellow-rumped warbler. He was so young.
