Thanks to global warming, our future prospects for shreddin' sweet powder in the mountains don't look so good. But that ain't about to deter the scrappy Texans behind Bearfire Resort, a horribly-named artificial ski mountain set to open in the near future in the blizzard-challenged Ft. Worth, TX.
"But how will one ski year round in a locale not known for snow?" you might ask. Are you kidding? "Snow?" Hell you talkin' 'bout, grandpa? That's for has-beens and cheese weenies -- in the future, we shred Snowflex!

Tomorrow is the beginning of the end for plastic bags. San Francisco's ban on the trashy totes starts Tuesday.
Large grocery store chains in the city will be the first to enforce the new rule. In May, big drug stores will follow. Otherwise, they face fines up to $500 per bag.
The ban requires stores to replace traditional plastic bags with compostable ones, or bags made of at least 40 percent recycled paper. While the ban reduces polyethylene bags, it may spike the city's paper use.

Environmental groups have shed an unbecoming light on bottled water companies lately. The plastic bottles suck energy, pile up in landfills, and waste...water.
The guilt trip has lead one water company to change its ways. Today, the square-bottle company Fiji Water announced it's goal to go carbon negative in 2008. That means cutting packaging by 20 percent, reducing waste from production, installing a windmill at the bottling plant, and altering shipping routes to lower emissions.
